About Us

Hello! I am Jamie Glaser, the founder of Acton Academy North Miami Beach, a loving wife, and the proud mother of two energetic boys. I have a bachelor’s degree in education and worked for 8 years as an elementary school teacher in the Florida public school system. I have extensive knowledge in the science of reading and am well-versed in childhood development. I also hold a diploma in Montessori education from the North American Montessori Center (NAMC).

Despite many years working as a classroom teacher, my journey in education took a transformative turn when I became a mother, and my children first started attending school. I began to look at the whole system from a new lens. I had certain expectations of the kinds of skills, both social and emotional, that I wanted them to learn. Things like self-regulation, conflict resolution, and developing independence. Although I have loved all of their teachers, the system was not built to promote the principles that I felt were most important for my children.

After recognizing the growing gap between conventional education and the skills I knew they needed; I began looking for alternatives.  I looked for a school that would encourage them to be problem solvers and independent thinkers while keeping education FUN.

This search led me to Acton Academy, where I found a community that shared my vision for empowering leaders, nurturing character, and encouraging independent thought. At Acton Academy NMB, we emphasize the importance of play, nature, and exploring personal interests and talents. We encourage each learner to aim high and offer guidance on developing the necessary skills to achieve their  goals. Our purpose is to foster a generation who knows how to achieve and collaborate, while showing respect for themselves, each other, and their community.
