For the 2025-2026 school year we are accepting enrollment for children ages 5-7/ Kindergarten-2nd grade. Our school population and enrollment will grow organically as the learners get older and we continue to expand our community.
We believe that children learn best when working with children younger and older than themselves rather than split up into groups based solely on age. In addition to individualized curriculum, all ages of students work together in groups. Our learners will be separated into groups by age and independence; younger learners (5-7ish years old in a Spark studio) and in the future older learners (7ish- 11 years old) will make up our Discovery studio. There are opportunities for all of our learners to play and work together throughout the week.
We are working on finding our perfect home to begin building our movement. We will let our community know when we have news to share!
For 2025-26 school year, tuition is $15,000 per year plus a $500 yearly enrollment fee. Tuition is paid in 11 monthly installments from August- July. Tuition is subject to annual increases. We are also an approved provider for the Step-Up PEP scholarship funds!
Students set daily, weekly, and session goals. They will come to understand what a SMART goal is; specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, time-bound, and they will practice holding themselves accountable and working towards their learning goals. This will be our primary way of measuring their learning and growth.
The online platforms collect significant data on mastery and gaps in understanding. And finally, students will take a standardized assessment in the beginning and end of the year as a way of collecting data and be another marker of “learning” although they will not be made aware of their scores as we do not put much stock in one number summing up a year of hard work.
We respect and incorporate Maria Montessori’s philosophy, but we are not a Montessori school. We also use the latest interactive technologies, hands-on projects and the Socratic Method for discussions.
At Acton Academy NMB, the students run the studio (classroom) by agreeing together what their rules are the behavior and treatment of one another. These are called their “Studio Covenants” and “Rules of Engagement.” In the Spark and Elementary studio especially, they are provided with appropriate guidance throughout this process. These rules and covenants are prominently displayed in the studio and revisited frequently. Often, these are revised by the students as they work through challenges and discover better ways of interacting with one another. Students also budget their time, choose their areas of focus for the day and adjust these based on their performance. We believe strongly that students achieve more when they have control of their learning.
Children who love to learn, are curious, self-motivated and respectful will thrive at Acton Academy NMB. Our environment is an accelerator for the independent learner who can tackle challenging questions, self-manage and solve problems. Additionally, children who have progressive and open-minded parents who fundamentally believe children are more capable than we think are a great fit for our program.
We believe that each of us has a special calling in life and a series of trials and tests that must be faced with integrity and purpose to live a satisfying and fulfilled life. Our mission is to prepare your child for his or her special journey.
